Q: How long will my delivery take?
A:
If your order is for China Produced raincoats or pants, which we keep
in stock, delivery should be no more than 2 weeks. Other items which
have to be made, delivery times will vary from 14 days to no longer
than 28 days. Delivery times may vary due to the time of year, such as
Christmas, when we are very busy.
Q: Can I return my item if I do not like it?
A:
Items can be returned within 7 days, as long as they are in the same
condition as when they were supplied. We do not accept clothing back
that has obviously been worn, or smells of cigarette smoke, cooking
smells etc. Please note that PVC is porous and if it is left out of
it's packaging it will absorb all the smells in that locality and if
returned "smelly" we will not be able to return the item to stock.
Q: What happens if my garment is faulty?
A:
The goods can be returned to us, and if found to be faulty
manufacturing, we will repair it and return it to you free postage, or
you can have a refund. If we find that the garment has been ripped due
to stress or incorrect fitting, we will charge you for the repair and
the goods will be returned to you.
Q: Why are there so many material listed but I can only have my garment made in certain materials?
A:
Over the years we have accumulated a large number of colours and
materials and we have to show old material colours on the website, so
we can sell Sale Items in that colour. The website materials list is
updated regularly and informs customers of stock levels, which
materials are discontinuing and which one's are on order.
Q: Is PVC safe worn next to the skin?
A:
Modern produced PVC is inert and safe to wear for limited periods of
time. If you wear it for long periods of time your skin will not be
able to breathe which could cause a reaction. PVC manufactured in the
past contained lead and cadium which were dangerous but these have all
now been removed and PVC is a very safe material.
Q: Sometimes the garment has white dust on it, what is this and how do I remove it?
A:
Glass clear materials and shiny materials have chalk dust or cornflour applied to
the material to stop it sticking and trapping air when the material is
wound on to the roll. It also helps when pulling the material off the
rolls. The dust is harmless, the best way to remove it is to either run
a damp cloth over your garment or simply wear it, in time the dust
comes off naturally.
Q: Sometimes my emails are not answered, why is this?
A:
We like any on line company receive high numbers of spam emails. We
have filters which remove suspect spam which sometimes results in
geniune emails being deleted. Always make sure that you put something
prominant in the subject line such as "coat" or "my order". If you do
not put anything in the subject line your email might be deleted.
Q: Can I talk about my fetish to someone in your office?
A:
Whilst we try and answer as many questions as possible the phone line
is only intended to take orders where people cannot order on line.
Therefore we try and keep conversations short so that people can get
through and place their order.
Q: Are you anything to do with PVC Dreams?
A: We supply a lot of clothing to PVC Dreams. If you want to contact PVC Dreams, visit their site at PVCdreams.com
Q: Can I visit your premises and have a look around?
A:
Unfortunetly we are a manufacturing company and do not have a retail
section. Under special circumstances and by arrangement only we do
allow customers to pick up their goods if they do not want them sending
by post.
Q: PVC-U-LIKE Policy on Abuse
A:
At PVC-U-LIKE we have a responsibility to our staff to ensure that they
are not subjected to any form of abuse. We do not accept any form of
abuse whether it be on the phone or via
email. If we are sent abusive emails we will report this to the
person's ISP. If we receive abusive phone calls we will end the call
immediately, record the
person's phone number and if the abuse continues we will report it to
the Police.
Q:Why have you changed your online ordering system?
A:
To give you greater security when ordering online. In line with the new
card processing security procedures, we now use an authorised payment
provider, who guarantees encryption and security of our customer's
credit card details. We no longer keep any customer credit card details
on our systems. Protx the on line payment provider will check your
credit card or debit card has sufficient funds, has the correct address
and security number quoted before approving the order. Q:Does your PVC contain plasticisers, I've heard that they are dangerous?
A:
Unfortuantely PVC has received some bad press especially from the green
brigade. Anything that they can throw at PVC to discredit it has been
used and plasticisers is one line of attack. Plasticisers have been
used in various forms since the 1950's to soften PVC Material, It is
one of the most tested compounds known to man and the only problem
found was that in large doses Plasticisers can effect the male hormone
system. One compound used worldwide was DEHP and this has now been
replaced by a new compound DINP which has been found to be completely
safe. PVC is used in everyday products and if disposed of responsibly
can be fully re-cycled. As usual a small number of people do not
care about the environment and simply dump their rubbish where they
like causing pollution. It is this area the Green brigade need to
concentrate their efforts instead of taking a sledge hammer to crack a
nut. Q:Sometimes I re-order a certain material and it isn't the same as before?
A:
We order between 1/2 tonne and 1 tonne of PVC for each colour, this
equates to approx 30-60 x 50m rolls. Depending on the popularity of a
colour the stock will be turned over as quickly as 4 months or can take
two years before replenishment is required. When the PVC is
manufactured at the factory a number of conditions can change how the
material looks, feels etc. These include different masterbach (the PVC
granules), slight changes in additives and quantities and even the time
of day the material is produced due to the heat of the calender (the
rollers that sqeeze the soft PVC tube into the sheeting you are
familiar with). All these variables can make the PVC sheeting different
every time, and unfortuanetly we have no control over it at all. If you
suddenly find a material you love we would suggest you buy as much as
you can afford before it changes with the next delivery.
